Is there a legal way to import money to Argentina these days without having to pay ATM fees, import fees, trip to Uruguay costs? Or dealing with Xoom or Rita limits and paperwork?

There is a new government here that seems to be close to the US so have bank transfers loosened up?

Once you setup your account in Montevideo, you don't need to go to Uruguay to see a teller in an Uruguayan bank. There are several Banco Itaú
in Buenos Aires and they will gladly give you your money with proper identification along with your bank card.

Banco Itau (my bank) in BA will give you Your Money from Uruguay in dollars? or pesos at the official rate?

The ATM at the HSBC here in Microcentro sometimes offers your choice of dollars or pesos, but you can't really have dollars, of course., It's just being a teasing little bitch.
