Today, I paid $76.99 for a 4 pack of Activa yogurt at a Disco market. I think the price was about half that, not too long ago.

For that price you can buy a one litre bottle of organic yogourt de La Choza' which is sold at many locations now. It comes in a glass bottle in either plain or flavoured varieties.

La Choza is awesome... is there a list of places that sell it? Only problem is sometimes they run out of the flavor I want.

i know at least 3 in palermo, there is a couple in san telmo, not all of them are open every day. La Choza delivers to the city on wednesdays and saturdays.
Bonpland 1660, Mercado de Economia Solidaria, the first shop right in front of the entrance. You can ask them to hold it for you till the end of the day you intend to pick it up.
Another place is Mercado Punto Verde at Dorrego 1429 - just off Cordoba, they are open Wed, Friday, Sat and have all the La Choza products as well - butter, cheese, milk, yogourts and some other vendors selling organic grains, produce, eggs, oils, honey, etc.
You can also buy it much cheaper online from those guys http://tiendadelaaurora.com/categoria-producto/lacteos/, but unless you get 900 pesos staff worth they charge for delivery.
If you are near san telmo I can get the exact address of the places

$ 77 pesos is about U$D 3.85 ÷ 4 = .95 ¢. each. The price of the dollar was about half that not too long ago.

Inflation is as big a mental problem as economics - people here are so used to it they create it themselves. The cycle never stops - there is a lot of ridiculous margin robbery going on by places like supermarkets who are making a killing bumping up prices when any chance permits. Just mention the word inflation and boom - they can set any price they want. Same with gasoline prices..

John Doe - it's your prerogative to complaint re inflation.....yet you are still here. There must be positive aspects to keep you here after 14 years!

Not so in a market with real competition. If you are the only one increasing your prices more than 25% every year, you go out of business, because you are pricing yourself out.

Anyone who believes Argentinian business (eg supermarkets) are operating in direct competition with each other is smoking the good stuff. These people are all in bed together and will keep pushing prices up in tandem as they please - why would any one of them reduce their crazy margins if the public continues to accept it?

It is true that taxes are a big reason for the high prices and cost of employment however I believe that because of indemic inflation businesses put in a 'price buffer' to shield themselves from any short term economic shocks that may occur. These are yet to happen and now they have enjoyed these ridiculous prices for way too long. High inflation that Argentina has lived with for way too long is a devil for society and should be avoided at all costs.

Sot on.
I think the mentality of those who provide and charge for a service/product in this country has to change before much else else changes. Of course it doesn't help when taxes/utilities keep going up and you have the likes of Banco Provincia staff closing the bank so they can have an extended holiday weekend.
