Fish in Chino looks OK, but we're wondering is there is a reliable store for consistently good fresh fish.

Entre rios between Mexico and chile. Can't remember the name, but it's aewesome, it's associated with a nearby sushi restaurant. Super fresh!

Cannot attest to its reliability as its a new find for me but we bought fresh mussles from Anita Porzio last weekend and wowed our friends with some super fresh moules frites. Im so so re the fish here as freshness is an issue but these mussels all opened and had super thin shells and soft flesh. Worth a try. Its on Angel Gallardo 1830 in Caballito.
Personally I feel put off by the large offering of Ostramar on Santa fe as the whole fish look beyond dead. I prefer my whole fish with a twinkle in its eye. Good luck the the search.

Personally, I always check the clients turnover in a pescaderia (more they sell, more it should be fresh).

Personal option : knowing which days the Chinatown's resellers get reapprovisioned and buy that day.

I heard Wednesday morning is when the fresh fish come into Barrio chino...

Ostramar at the corner of Santa Fe and Julian Alvarez just might be the best place to buy fish. This store is really popular and has a great selection of fresh fish and prepared foods. Try not to go on a Saturday morning, as the place can be mobbed.

Indeed, it's also a good place, I used to go there too when I was living nearby. They also sell entradas already prepared which are quite tasty.
It's about 30/40% more expensive than Barrio Chino though.
