I've never heard of a prepaid debit card here.
Anecdote - I went to Carrefout for my bi-weekly stockup on Tuesday, which is discount day for Citi cardholders. I noticed "20% discount with credit card" signs on several items throughout the store, but I didn't pay attention, thinking these were for single items on promotion. But when I offered my Citi Debit card at checkout to get the usual 15% Tuesday discount, the clerk explained that almost all food and beverage items received a 20% store discount with a credit card, plus the Tuesday Citi 10% discount for credit cards. So I dropped out of the line and filled another chango to maximize my total 28% discount. Total savings = 600 pesos.
