There's a lot to be said for Zona Norte.....Olivos, Martinez etc.
A large Anglo/Argentine and expat community particularly in Martinez.
Of course if you work in town you would have to commute.

I'm relocating later this year from Alaska with my wife and 2 children, boys aged 7 and 10. I'm also considering Belgrano R as the city center seems more suited to the 20 somethings and or people looking for an active night life. Any other recommendations family friendly locations for single family housing?

Belgranp R is great for families but if you don't have a car, much of it is very residential and hard to access amenities like groceries. Nunez and saavedra (closer to cabildo) is also great like Belgrano R, tranquil but a little less isolated.

Naw Belgrano R isn't isolated at all. There's a Disco right there on Naon, a Coto nearby on Monroe.
It's my favorite area of the city, go for it

but yes, Saavedra & Nunez (and Coghlan) are all nearby and also great options.
