Bicycling in BA

So, I understand Buenos Aires has a great system of bike lanes. But also some really bad car drivers. Would you recommend a bike or e-bike as a primary mode of transportation? Or am I likely to get run down like a dog?😉
I enjoy biking, and it's great exercise for my old heart.
bike

Actually you almost ever see accidents here. I have driven cars in the city, and its a delicate ballet, but 99% of the time everybody gently dodges. I have ridden bikes in the bike lanes, and its fine. Riding on the streets of LA or NYC is much scarier.

It's OK but not cycling paradise like Amsterdam or Copenhagen of course.
Need to have your wits about you.

That's good to know. I've biked in LA. I should be fine. lol

the bike lanes themselves are fine. they are mainly on smaller streets, and the only danger is when crossing arterials. look both ways, dont ride in front of a bus or a taxi. The Rappi (bike delivery of pizza, etc) riders are fearless, they dodge between buses and go the wrong way on one ways, etc. Never seen one dead and squashed, although I am sure it happens. The streets are very busy, but most are actually quite slow moving traffic.

You won't find many cities better for a bike than this city..period.

BsAs best possible city for cycling. Flat and many bike lanes. I commute everywhere by bike. But be careful. Drivers really don’t care about you!

Palermo has a big, beautiful and well maintained park with a bicycle path. My heart might be as old or older than yours but unless you ride in a park like that, make sure you have adequate health insurance as the drivers here are like out of a scene from Mad Max and the Thunderdome.
