unfortunately, there is a shortage of 90 year old white american guys here.
not a lot of big bands here.

there are some great jazz clubs, and a good jazz scene, but its about 50 years more modern than what you are looking for, at a minimum.
Good shows at Thelonius- http://www.thelonious.com.ar/programacion.php
Boris often has jazz too- http://www.borisclub.com

the number one thing to remember in Argentina is- Buy Local.
That means, dont try to find things you already know about- instead, get into what is actually here. There is great music, food, art, dance, theater, fashion, literature, and on and on and on- but you will never be happy if you go in with preconceptions, looking for something from somewhere else- you gotta learn about what is here, not lament what isnt.

I'm not lamenting , just checking to see if it's available. Nothing wrong with that.
If there isn't I could still enjoy the things already existing in the City. The 2 concepts are not mutually exclusive .

Thank you for the info:)

this is the kind of "big band" music that younger musicians are playing in Buenos Aires today-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvqY88ar6RI

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nh37QFb1NIg

and you certainly can dance at Konex.

but for any music here, Tango is the gorilla in the room.
its influence is omnipresent.

Tango is the gorilla in the room in places frequented by tourists and expats. Among Argentines, musica folclorica is much more ubiquitous and "popular."
