Black Rate

Yeah newcomers it is of the UTMOST importance that your dollars be free of rips, tears, stamps or marks. Also they usually want only $100 bills. They will refuse to change an imperfect bill.

Why is that in Ar,Peru,Chile and other SA countries only wants as perfect US crisp $ bills as possible.
Last time I was in Peru at the cambio places, they always pointed out to my US$ Bills and said, this one has a rip on it so no good, or will favour you in taking it but not at full face value etc.?
Here in the states, any Banks will change any US$ no matter the condition....
In my 2nd trip to SA, I had make sure to tell my Banker to gather US$100 bills but as newer looking as possible then the Banker asked why..

In the little Galeria under the hotel on Posadas. Look for the door that says "this isn't a (cueva)". Or otherwise unmarked.PM me if you need more specific info. But usually there is at least one policeman hanging out in front of the Galeria.

You mean the gallery that's part of the Alvear Palace Hotel? You enter from main entrance of the hotel in Alvear street. On the corner of Posadas and Ayacucho you have a confiteria and directly behind the hotel on Posadas there's a parking garage and an empanada place across the street from the hotel. Unless there's a different entrance via Posadas to that same gallery.

I know one on Posadas, in a kind of tiny gallery, between Ayacucho & Callao. When you enter there's a Real Estate (Miami) store on the right and another shop (I believe a travel agency?) in front. Went a few times but the rate was not as good as in other places.
