IMO, not everywhere. Take a look at Costa Rica.

The colón does not often exchange at a favorable rate outside of Costa Rica. In fact, some countries' banks do not exchange Costa Rica's currency at all. U.S. funds can usually be repurchased at Costa Rican airport banks.

@Rich One, the colon was at 350:1 ~10 years ago. The link you posted is quite old. If you take a look at the colon's ~recent history, you'll notice that it had a "controlled" devaluation and was later moved to a floating peg, and has overall been fairly stable for the last 5 years. During this period of time, the country's economy has performed well, and inflation has decreased, etc.

Anyways, not super related to this thread, but, thought you might find this interesting.

You are correct the current rate of the Colon is $503 colones to the Dollar,
