Blue Dollar: Peso has devalued 22% over the last 30 days

The way I've sold on the black market is through a local in-law that calls in the amount she wants to exchange and they go to her office directly. Every time I ask her to change money for me I feel guilty, like I'm putting her in a precarious (and dangerous) position, but she never seems to be worried...

There's nothing illegal about buying or selling dollars as an individual (according to my accountant). Unless you are running an underground casa de cambio you've nothing to worry about.

I got 5 pesos to the dollar a few weeks back in my local supermarket. Today the rate was 5.75. Whilst it seems drastic, it also feels like the exchange rate is finally catching up with inflation. It was 3 pesos to the dollar four years back...

You need to change your accountant. AFIP is going after thousands of people who bought dollars in the official market and then sold them in the black market for a profit. They are controlling this. It doesn't matter that you are an individual.

Sorry, should have clarified that the advice I was given was that it was ok to buy and sell dollars providing you weren't doing so for profit.

Yes, you can still bring in up to $10,000 US for each person. But plenty of people are bringing in more and just not declaring it. Surprisingly $10,000 US doesn't take up much space with $100 bills.
Just a touch over 1/2" thick and travels quite well.

hoe does the dollar-crisis in Argentina affect the value of the euro? Is there a black market for the euro as well or only for the dollar?

Got 6.40 for euros this week.

Im wondering then why people dont travel to other countries to sell the peso for an official rate and sell sell the dollars for the blue rate? If you do this with 10'000 USD that gives you a 1'000 USD each trip. What Im not sure is how easy it is to sell the peso abroad ;)

This post made me laugh out loud.

Seems to me to be a bad deal.......euro should give exact same blue amount after multiplying with the usd/euro rate.........so, ex.: 5,80 times 1,25 = 7,25!!!!

5.75 is the latest rate I was quoted, Thursday. If there's better would be interested to know.
