Seasons greetings dear readers! The Baexpats Book club will not be meeting in December but will resume its monthly meeting the last Wednesday of every month on January 28, 2015.
We will take advantage of the hiatus by selecting Ken Follett's newest book "Edge of Eternity". Follett is an iconic author known for his historical fiction that basically has traced the worlds development since medieval times. He interwines great characters, intriguing plots, and much suspense in his historically factual books, which really detail the sense of time and place and daily living. This is accomplished in his later books by following the descendants of various families (he kindly provides the reader with the family trees so one doesn't have to have read the previous books in the series!). Our selection is currently a New York Times Best seller (impressive since it was published at the end of october!) and depicts the simultaneous world changing events of the last decades of the 20th century, from the Cold War,fall of the Berlin Wall, to the Freedom Riders of the American Civil Rights Movement...all this and more viewed from the eyes of fictitious and real historical characters. This notice will be followed by updates on the "expat life forum" happy holiday readings!
