Border Crossings In The South To Chile

I was just wondering if someone knows the best border crossings down south somewhere near El Bolson?
By car? Boat? Hiking? Where in Chile do you want to go? I have driven across the Cardenal Samoré between Bariloche and Osorno several times. All asphalt. Easy to drive. You can easily get to Puerto Varas, Puerto Montt etc. or further north from there.

I agree with andesmandes that Cardenal Samoré is nice, easy do drive and good views. But, everywhere in the Andes has a good view. I recommend taking a day pass at the all inclusive hotel on the Chilean side, bswimming and eating buffe lunch until you think you are going to burst, but will just have one more desert anyway. If y are staying the night, stay at the cabañas further up the road instead.
This border crossing can be tedious though, depending on when you go. In high season it can take up to five hours to cross, three hours waiting on the Argentinian side, an hour driving between checkpoints (with viewing stops) and another hour at the Chilean side. There is talk that it is to be simplified, but I don't know when or how or for who.

An article in the news today: http://www.diarioandino.com.ar/diario/2015/09/15/afip-agiliza-los-tramites-de-aduana-para-viajar-a-chile/

Don't forget one of the most expensive border crossings: http://www.cruceandino.com/en

Futaleufu should be the next one for cars that is further south - but I have never taken that one. http://www.pasosfronterizos.gov.cl/cf_futaleufu.html

You could drive the Carretera Austral on the the Chilean side. But it is not a continuos road - so you would have to take ferries as well to get all the way to Puerto Montt. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carretera_Austral

Are the roads ok down there, im in a small car and don't want to get stuck anywhere, we want to see the area from down south in Chile then drive back on the Argentinian side! let me know If I should skip this side, but thought in might be a cool drive and visit!
