Need to go shopping for a hot plate/ electric stove... any recommendations for reliable brands? Thanks!

Smeg and Miele in that order IMO.
I'm sure Smeg is readily available here. I am not sure about Miele though.

I have been happy with my Franke/Spar horno.
Had it almost 7 years now, no problems.
