Good morning,
I am moving to Argentina and I’ve been trying to wrap my head around some positive and some negative experiences I’ve seen people have with customs coming to Argentina. I am bringing flight sim equipment, desk mount and some elgato gear for streaming. All of it is used and I’m still leaving behind a fair amount just cause it can’t all fit in my gear. When I arrive to Argentina in EZE should I fill out a customs declaration form for my simulation gear? I’m an American citizen, retired military if that matters and I’m working in my DNI atm with the embassy in the states since my fathers Argentinean but not sure if it will be done so I’ll be traveling obviously with an American passport.

As of late has customs been charging people fees for people with return flights that are bringing used equipment that is for personal use? What should I expect and how to plan accordingly? Any advice would be greatly appreciated cause it’s kinda like one of my few hobbies to keep me mentally sane aside from the gym and I’d really rather not get annihilated in fees for used and aged gear.

Thank you all for your advice

Note that if you are an Argentine citizen returning from abroad you get a tax free import of personal effects, including a car with prior authorization and approval from the embassy

I thought this was just for native Argentines but you’re right and apparently it extends to me as well. I will bring this up to the employee helping me at the embassy during my DNI appointment to see what they say and bring the print outs of my items and see if they authorize it right then and there but probably not since my documents for the dni have to go to Argentina first then come back but I’ll see what they say. Thank you for bringing this up

If you arrive without a dni, you are traveling as a US citizen. I would not bring up whats in your luggage, and if they ask you any questions at the scanner, just tell them its a hobby, and used, in english. They are looking for bags with 24 new iphones or 10,000$ in new brand name designer clothing, or drugs. Smugglers, which you are obviously not.
