Buenos Aires Art Scene

Hello!
I would like to explore the art scene of Buenos Aires and i don´t know where to start. I don´t mean the big museums or expensive art galleries around i am more interested in the work of little galleries or schools who do their annual final exhibitions. I am most interested in photography, illustration and sculptures but any idea would be great to start with something!

ramona is good- I find great shows to go to, and openings full of artists, every day.

there is a cool arts building right on Santa Fe- 2729. There are a bunch of little galleries and stores and studios there, usually lots of illustration and photography. Just go over and start talking to people.

appetite, in San Telmo, is always wild and crazy.

reggazonni is a sculptor who makes gigantic things from scrap metal- and has an outlaw studio down behind the retiro train station- he sometimes has house parties and live music there, too.

There are classy galleries- places like Braga Menendez, in Palermo, is really good.

pateo del liceo is also a great tip, the santa fe building, it's full of talleres & galleries, go any thurs/fri and you'll surely find people. pasto galeria there has an opening on the 14th, for example

yeah, I bet you are right about appetite. I last saw her at ArteBa 2 years ago. She is a bit over the top for me- so I didnt go down there a lot.
plus, I am a yoyo- not a permanent resident, so things change between my trips.

But there are still lots of new things happening all the time, shows in bars, shows in apartments, and so on.
vuenosaires is another place to look for events- more of the big museums than whats up or ramona, though.

Might also consider " Gallery Nights" . www.gallery-nights.com.ar . Different galleries host , and the group goes to each one. It's fun and you meet people and learn about the local art scene.

Does anyone have more up to date information on this topic? I am not opposed to the larger museums at all as I have visited most of them.
