I've been sick for the last few weeks, and now that I'm starting to finally feel better and get the apartment back in order, I've found the stovetop is perpetually sticky. Back in the States, I just used dish soap, but that doesn't seem to be helping here. I don't know if I left it too long or what. So if anyone can recommend a good brand of cleaner for this, I'd be really grateful.

I use alcohol vinegar and water as an all purpose cleaner. I combine them in a spray bottle.

If the stickiness is on the gas burners, then try baking soda and steel wool.

Ooh, I didn't think of vinegar. I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

Odex is a good powdered cleanser. A little tough to find, but oftentimes hardware stores will have it. Sort of like Barkeepers' Friend if you know that from the US.

I use this stuff. It’s very effective, highly recommended. Well worth the price.
You just spray it, let it sit for a minute and then you can wipe off the grease and gunk easily.
