Folks,

What are the dates for BA street carnival this year and does anybody have a programme?

This time last year there were already street festivals with the kids in their costumes and the bands (and the acrobatic dancing_. it was great fun.

Lint starts, on Ash Wednesday, 40 days before Easter.
You have noticed that Easter Sunday moves around on the calendar?
So figure out when Easter is and count backwards 40 days.
You can start Carnival Partying the week before Fat Tuesday / Mardi Gras.

pffff this is the most tortuous schedule ever invented. You ask a Brazilian when is carnival and he will tell you.. the times.. the schedule... she/he knows the schedule for the next 5 carnivals. Here nobody knows!! You need you a bloody calculator to work it out. Ridiculous.

My point is.. if they want a tourist industry then they have got to cut this crap and make it easier for us.. put up banners,, posters.. advertise web sties will full itineraries in English ... make some bloody effort :-(((

According to that link (for example) tonight there is something happening (Sunday 8 Feb). I don't know what and I don't where but something is happening somewhere.. yippeeeee Now I;ll bust my ass going around the city trying to locate it. Wish me luck!

Brazilian here. I could not tell you the dates of carnaval if my life dependent on it.
