Hello everyone,

I arrived in Buenos Aires yesterday and ran into a bit of a problem. I went to two Western Union offices today. They were open, but neither had cash available.

I need some cash for a special event tonight, and Western Union is not an option right now.

I am considering using an ATM instead. Do you have any recommendations on which ATMs to use to minimize fees?

I’m in Palermo

Thanks in advance.

Kind of a strange time to worry about the fees, wouldn't you say?

You need to go to an official branch. The biggest is at the corner of cordoba and montevideo. The little mom and pop shops never seem to have any cash but the official branches always do. Another option is to use USDT if you use crypto. You can search for "casa de cambio" in maps and pretty much all of them will give you cash for USDT.

Sounds like you were unlucky with those two branches. Western Union usually has plenty of cash. Use their app to transfer the money to yourself and bring your passport (not ID) for the pickup. Ton of branches around town.

Hey!

Thanks for the advice.

I did figure this out at the end with USDC but in a different way

Found an app somebody mentioned here last month (Wanderwallet) and topped it up with usdc. Then I went to an atm that lets you withdraw with QR codes

Only paid 8k pesos in fees for 500k withdrawal. Solved the little conundrum I had found myself in
