I knit and am from Chicago, so I just like wool. Last year I bought one women's sweater at a place near the outlets in Villa Crespo called Belvedere. It was I think over 50% wool and has held up great (although to clean it I soak it in a bowl with Woolite in cool water and then gently squeeze it out, no wringing, and roll it in one towel, squeeze again, then lay it flat on another towel to dry).
I also bought a gorgeous merino sweater that I LOVE from a brand called Chocolate. The outlet is along Cordoba and hmm, maybe a block or two west of Scalabrini Ortiz. It wasn't cheap, but it is exactly what I expect from a nice merino sweater and I get tons of compliments. There's a shop with designer sweaters, super cool from the daughters of the owners of LedLan...I don't know what this is made out of, but I adore her work. It's a tiny shop on Scalabrini Ortiz a couple doors down from LedLan (literally the width of a closet, so it's easy to miss):

There's only one wool shop here called Milana for buying wool. Most others have maybe one or two colors of wool thread, and maybe one or two llama. I think it's too warm for wool, generally. This cracks me up:

Where is all that wool going? It's not up here. Maybe it's sold in Bariloche.
The brands that I find make nice clothes here are Huija, Pesquiera, Las Pepas, DAM, and the winter sales I think are just ending now, so it's the perfect time to buy stuff. The Las Pepas has an entire storefront on Gurruchaga open just for a month across from their normal location, pretty much everything is 150 pesos, leather jackets, new for 700. I believe it's still open, but it might be ending soon. Sometimes Kostume or Kosiuko - but those are more like going to Abercrombie and Fitch. If you want something warm and sporty, the outlets with western brands in Villa crespo for hiking gear sometimes have cute merino layering garments for slightly less than you'd get them in Europe or the States. It took me a year to find all this stuff, so I hope it helps. Goodluck!
