Has anyone seen canned chipotles en adobo anywhere lately? I look for them every time I'm in a store or market. I've been unable to find them, even after searching every mercado in barrio chino. I'm pleased (relatively) with the selection of salsas, canned jalapeños, frijoles etc, but that isn't what I need now.

Cassia cinnamon has eluded me also. Not true cinnamon (canela), which is sold here and in most of the world, but what is common in the U.S. Cassia is hard when a stick, with a stronger flavor that packs some heat.

If anyone is interested, I DID find onion powder (cebolla en polvo) for the first time the other day at Bodega Amparo (Darwin1532). Good for spice rubs, cajun seasoning, etc.

I can't say for sure that they have the chipotles, but I did notice the other day that the Carrefour on Lacroze (between Migueletes and Soldado I believe) had a fair amount of mexican products -- sauces, beans, tacos etc. Might be worth trying there.

I also haven't been able to find chipotles en adobo. I've looked EVERYWHERE and the only Costeña product that is missing is the chipotles. However there is a Mexican woman that sells these products in Palermo Hollywood. I haven't bought from her in about a year b/c her prices are outrageously expensive (18 pesos for a dozen frozen corn tortillas, 20+ pesos for 100 grams of salsa verde). I'm sure the chipotles (if she has them) are reasonable. Good luck!

I just came from the huge Carrefour on Salguero. While it has the best selection of Mexican (mostly La Costaña) products I've seen here, still no chipotles en adobe.

Itacate (http://www.elportaldemexico.com/servicios/catering/itacate.html) shows them on their website. Also fresh tortillas and chiles, among other things :). The only contact seems to be by email in Spanish though.

NOLAchef, I just realized that is the same site as the email you posted.

I have a suspicion that I have seen them somewhere.I could be wrong but I will verify tomorrow. If I find them I will let you know .

Thanks Nolachef for the tip about the tortillas being frozen. I was going to contact them but at that price I really want them fresh.

Si si. Your best bet is with http://www.tortillapanchovilla.com.ar/ for fresh tortillas. Gaby, the Mexican owner, makes them by hand just about every day and I THINK she delivers on Tuesdays and Fridays. Her prices are way better as well as the quality of the tortilla- fresh never frozen.

I'll be hosting a MEXICAN POP-UP next Thursday, the 16th in Palermo Soho that's open to the public. I'll be serving her tortillas (along with other Mexican goodies- tortas de res, esquites, molletes, tres leches, etc.) if you want to come by and check it out!

It's at Tout le Monde Cafe on Gurruchaga 1417 between Cabrera y Gorriti. Doors open at 5pm.

Thanks Nolachef. Sounds good.
Is it a buffet type or a la carte and what is your price range like?
Good luck with it if we don´t see you.

Forgot, have not found the chipotles yet, only Tabasco chipotle and refried beans with chipotle .
I will keep looking.

A la carte, dishes range from 15-40 pesos!

Will let you know if I come across any chipotles. I do like the chipotle Tabasco on fried eggs...

Hi, I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but I was in Gato Negro (Corrientes and Rodriguez Pena) and they had giant sticks of cinnamon, branches practically, called 'canela de ceilan', I don't know if that's what you are looking for but that seems to be a great place to get spices in general and their coffee rocks!
good luck

This morning Jumbo on Bullrich had La Costeña chipotles in adobo. They are in the salsa/mayo isle, not the import section, and cost $25.49 per 220gr can.
