I am going to post over the next few weeks some of my favourite Argentine songs . I am an great admirer of Astor Piazzola and find he touches part of my soul that very few composers do.

This is one of my favourite songs Vuelvo Al Sur composed by him and sung beautifully by Caetano Veloso.

Please click and enjoy this masterpiece.

I also like all our members to also post their favourite Argentine songs.

Hey Pericles,
the song you posted is one of my favourite songs. I Got to know the song via the Gotan Project of the song, thinking they wrote it. Did you know that the song was originally composed for the soundtrack of the movie "Sur" by Fernando 'Pino' Solanas? Pino also wrote the lyrics for the song, which to me - perfectly captures the spirit of the south...

One of my other favourite songs is "En La Ciudad de La Furia" by Soda Stereo. I guess they've been one of the most influencial rockbands in Latin America, considering their following is huge, and they've toured as far north as Los Angeles and Miami.

Thanks for that Reemster and did know that the lyrics were written by Pino Solanas. I loved the film Sur and is one of the classics of Argentine cinema.

I'll keep looking into my personal collection for some classic 'rock nacional' tunes .

For me it starts and ends with Charlie Gardel's "Por Una Cabeza".
