Cocu

There's a bakery off Montivideo, I think it's on Arenales, called "Las Dos Esclavas". A clothing line and store called "Hey, McFly" (the blog talks quite a bit about Back to the Future and Bill Murray). I remember a clothing store out in Belgrano that had the name of something like "F__K the Idiots" (wasn't that, but it used the "F" word, just can't remember who was "F'd")

I've seen some pretty wild names here and often find it quite amusing, if not a marketing nightmare in many senses.
For a short time there was a clothing store on my corner (Araoz and Guatemala) named (and I'm not kidding) MotherF*cker and they didn't use the *. It was replaced with a much loved Fereteria.

Yes, bdk1 is right, they named the place 'Cocu' as a wink to Marcel Pagnol's movie 'La femme du Boulanger'.
Before ever tasting anything on their menu, I passed by that bakery on my bike and was very amused by the name, knowing what it meant in French. I actually thought that the owner had once been 'cocu' and wanted to name his business as some kind of weird reminder. I therefore walked in and asked the girl at the counter why the place was called like that.
Now, it has become my favorite bakery in Bs As, and they have the best 'pain au chocolat aux amendes'!!

This bakery sounds great, look forward to checking it out! Quel dommage that is closed on Mondays!!

Other bakery recommendations? I like Pain et Vin and L'épi but would love to know more!

What are the prices like in Cocu?

Do they have take away coffee?

I agree, though on a PC you can just switch to a US International Keyboard and it's more or less the same. At least for European languages.

I have to write in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French on a daily basis and Mac has made my life so much easier... Just hold a letter key and you'll see all its different versions!
