Coffee and cake prices

I don't think I've ever had Hechicera, I'll look out for it. My reference for rum is Venezuelan rum, there are a few brands that make it here, like Carúpano, Pampero, Diplomático, but especially anything from Santa Teresa. Their 1796 is very good. Most are sadly in the $100.000 range @LuckyLuke mentions, so we shall remain 2, or even 3 peasants.

Which tequila do you drink? Anything better than José Cuervo (which my Mexican friends recommended as paint stripper) is also in the $100k range on ML.
Don Julio Anejo used to be my top shelf Tequila. A great sipping drink. $84,000 on ML.

I rarely drink, but we were in Mexico last year and picked up a bottle of Don Julio 1942 and it was worth the money. Beautiful bottle, tequila, and was about $150 in Mexico vs. 375K here

For the last 15 months or so, I haven't been drinking at all. I did some reading about fatty liver syndrome, and decided to give the liver a little rest. Now I can't afford it, (thanks, Milei!). Before that I would occasionally treat myself to a bottle of Jose Cuervo Gold. Not saying your Mexican friends are wrong, just, eh, beggars can't be choosers. Mostly I liked a glass of Malbec with dinner, but obviously tequila goes best with beer. Or on its own.

Back in the pre-9/11 era, when the San Diego-Tijuana border was still relatively open and casual, my friend and I would occasionally go down to Tijuas of a Sunday afternoon to pig out at Carnitas Uruapan or one of the other tourist trap restaurants, and bring back a bottle of "tequila reposado". Now that was very different stuff, more for sipping than for doing shots.

I like Cazadores or Hornitos for everyday/Margaritas, and Tierra-Noble for sipping. I'll drink white or añejo, but I'm not into all the wood in most repos. But damn, there is a lot of good Tequila out there - and Sotol.

such fancy people.
I like to drink Santa Fe beer, which right now is 1800 pesos a can.
We were fancy when we could afford it. Spending $100k regularly per bottle isn't really justifiable.

No beer for me, but I get 3l cartons of Viña Las Perdices Chardonnay, Malbec, or red blend from ML. It's not cheap stuff, but it doesn't break the bank either.

My favorite coffee shop finally went up from 4000 to 4400 pesos for a latte (other shops in the area went up a few weeks ago). The prices keep climbing …..
