My husband and I and our three children are moving to BA from PA. in the spring/summer of this year. Looking for a long term rental, perhaps in Boating (kids will go to Lincoln - is Nordelta too far?) Are there any good places to look on line for rental housing?

Nordelta is too far. Try San Isidro chico if you want a gated community!!
Good Luck!

There are not many on the site who live out in the burbs. If this is a corporate move or you can otherwise afford it, I highly recommend you work with a good relocation specialist. Zona Norte is sprawling and there are a lot of considerations from whether you want to be near the train, be able to walk to stores and restaurants, want to avoid the hordes of mosquitoes near the water......

Another big issue for many expats, including me, was the thought of driving, or especially an older child driving in BA, so that could really impact location. We tried San Isidro, it was pretty, and cooler in the summer, but we couldn't leave fast enough. There is so little outside of country club life which you'd need good Spanish and good connections for.

There are plenty of spots in CF where you can get the house, backyard and pool and still
have the amenities that are what make BA to me. Lincoln has buses to pick up kids from all over. I'd consider Belgrano R, not to far from the school, Houses, yards and so close to the fun of the city.

can you expand on that?

We missed what we went to BA for, the city life, restaurants and culture. We found SI to be a generic suburb. While only a short distance from the city, the length of time it took to actually get anywhere in CF was a pain. We'd way prefer the semi suburban life in the areas of CF where you can have both the suburban and city amenities--parts of Belgrano and parts of Palermo Chico among others. More expensive, but this sounds like a corporate move.

Our "summer" or yours?

I am living in Ciudadela 4 blocks away from the train. Everything I need is just a walk away. Its not the prettiest place to live but the rent is much cheaper and the people are friendly. I have never felt threatened even walking on the streets at 4 a.m. this site has some places http://zona-oeste.enbuenosaires.com/

We're from NJ and live in Belgrano with 2 kids on the border of Belgrano R. We LOVE it here in the city and it's safe, pretty, neighborhood friendly and we are a very short walk to the train, subte and lots of bus lines. It's nice to be in the city, close to everything yet not in the downtown tourist area. PM me if you have any questions.
