I think ( not sure), I got scammed today at the post office.

I posted a ordinary letter by ordinary airmail. The letter comprised of a envelope and 2 normal A4 pages. The charged me and gave me a receipt as well of 39 pesos.

Is that normal?

I found it absurd, like 8 us$ at official rate.

Comments?

Size of the enveloppe? Destination?

Do not deal with mail if I can prevent it but it seems awfully expensive.

1 carta simple internacional 21-150 gms resto
desc :sobre Prefranqueado ( 32 peso)
1 filatelia - s Prefranq ( 7 peso)

makes any sense?

I did not buy any pre-paid envelope at the post office. I just used my own envelope. And put 2 pages inside. After I paid up, I asked him to put the stamp on the envelope. He did put some stamp but I could not see the stamp's value.

I am convinced somehow he conned me. Though he gave me a receipt of 39 pesos.

According to their website, it's the correct amount if it was over 20g going internationally but not to the US (33 to US). If it had been up to 20g it would have been much cheaper, 14 pesos. Do you think he got the weight wrong?

Resto del Mundo Hasta 150g $ 39,00

@Fahrenheit,

You answered my question.

Yes, he conned me on the weight. I remember posting another letter of similar size and weight only for 14 pesos few weeks ago.

I should have been watching the weight machine when he was weighing it.

He gave me a receipt of 39 pesos. He would probably put a 14 peso stamp on my letter. And he would sell 25 peso stamp to someone or pocket it to send his own private mail.

Now, I get it!

Thanks Fahrenheit. Appreciated!
