Individual spanish lessons, at work, how much would you pay? I want to push on with my Spanish, am good enough to work but I would like to be more confident and expressive.

I asked for a quote and the hourly rate was more than I was expecting. 120p/h.

Am I being miserable or is that a little steep?

I pay $20 USD/hour for private lessons... I take lessons with my teacher via Skype when not in BA, and have real face-to-face lessons when I am in BA.

Most teachers on Craigslist advertise at about $80-100 pesos per hour. The tourist schools charge between $25-30 USD/hour for private.

I would pay $120 p/h if the teacher is really good, well-organized and you feel like you are learning something. Seriously, if it is a quality teacher... pay up! You will save money in the long run.

I don't think that's all that far off from what teachers are charging for classes.

I might suggest you work something out where you purchase x classes in advance and set a schedule and then usually they will be a little more flexible on pricing b/c it's a guaranteed income instead of a one-off or occasional class.

In fairness I am spending the company's money rather than my own, need a factura and to be +/- 20% of the market rate so the alarm bells don't sound in accounts.

I reckon I´ll go ahead with a few lessons and see if there is any value, maybe after that book a series.

thanks folks.

If your company is paying the bills that will be quite reasonable to them (companies always pay more if they go with an institute).
