Crime spirals out of control in Rosario

Lived there a long time between 2018 and 2020 and never noticed anything.

Have two friends there. Both police officers. They say it's a war zone.

One went radio silent years ago because he couldn't trust anybody anymore within the Force. All crooked, bought and paid by the narcos.
If you're not one of them, you are a risk and at risk.

They had shootings at shouting distances from the Casino, one of the main city atractions.

The police gives the other forces (Gendarmeria/Federales) misdirections so they won't interfere or get caught in a bad situation that could bring more external forces.

This is nothing new but they just kill each other between narcos.

Travel there 3-4 times every month and never noticed anything.

Apparently, crime has gotten so bad that a friend had to sell her house in a "barrio cerrado", and moved to a high-security apartment.

While there are plenty of robberies gone wrong, most murders in Rosario / Santa Fe are targeted and linked to narcotrafficking. If you stay around the main drags of Oroño, Puerto Norte, Fisherton etc you probably won't notice a thing and may even have a sensation of being safer than in CABA.

Every year judges, police, prosecutors, dealers, witnesses and even politicians or their families get knocked off.
Occasionally there are innocent bistanders, like the person in the carpark of City Center earlier this year and I also remember a while ago a restaurant got shot up by criminals thinking a rival dealer was inside. They killed nine people inside but he was not even there to begin with. Today you will find metal detectors at the entrance to some larger restaurants in Rosario as a precaution.

The common perception that I hear from those I know there is that in Santa Fe, crime and trafficking gets worse when there is a peronist government in charge of the province and security since they feel elements within those government appointments are more often than not linked to the trade.

every police officer, in every city in the world, says the same thing. I take that with a grain of salt, they always see the worst of things.

Ha! I lived in Chicago for 10 years.

"Last month was the deadliest September in Chicago since 1993.

At least 81 homicides were recorded last month, according to the Police Department’s latest figures. That’s the most for a September since 1993, when there were 83 homicides. The record for a September in Chicago was set the year before, when there were 109 homicides.

Overall, homicides are up 50% from last year as 2020 continues to be on pace as deadlier than 2016, when the city was hit with its worst violence since the 1990s."

Suit yourself.

But if after 15 years of posting on different boards and going to every possible meeting two guys clam up with the same explanation and then vanish, i'd listen and pay attention to what they were saying.

But you know better, BTDT, right?
