Hi
Has anyone travelled in direct bus to cross border destinations (eg Chile, Bolivia) and you required a visa for the destination country? Did you prearrange visa in Argentina or got it at the internation border?

Regards

Well, if your country is not in the list of on arrival visa (Which I am sure not, like mine :D ) We both have to acquire visa first before visiting. DNI (Temporary or Permanant) does not automatically means we have visa for Mersecur countries (almost all South American countries). But having DNI means we will definetly get the Visa for those countries in couple of days. You have to submit your salary slips and may be booking of hotels you going to stay (not sure though)

I assumed so.
However I got some hope from bus counter in Retiro that has direct bus to Bolivia. What I understood from broken English/Spanish that I can get 90 day visa at border.

Yeah that's right because they might had assumed that, for Argentanian and Merscour countries citizen doesn't even require passport to travel just a document of Identification and almost all the countries apart from very few, are on arrival Visa e.g. US. UK. etc.

JAJAJA By then they have sold you ticket and taken you to the border. He is a great salesman.
The border between Bolivia and Argentina is a dirty hellhole. ( Not sure now, but was back in 2005)

It's not that complicated to find out. I'm posting Chile and Bolivia requirements but there's one for every country in the world. I know some people are not fans of the site but this information is accurate and regularly updated.

http://en.wikipedia....licy_of_Bolivia

http://en.wikipedia....policy_of_Chile

http://travel.state....ry_requirements (US is duplicated in the Bolivia one)

Thanks for useful links.
I'm great fan of wiki. However for legal matters I was not sure how much can I depend on wiki.

I have traveled to Chile many times. Got the 90 day thingy at the border each time. What country are you from?
