Disappointed with Food in Argentina

The only kind of chocolate that is worth its calories comes from either Belgium or Switzerland. There might be some exceptions that, unfortunately, don't come to mind as I write this.

Beef in general here is not what it used to be. Beef in Uruguay and Paraguay is much tastier these days.

It's a part of national pride "we have the best beef in the world" but it's simply not true anymore.
In Argentina, cattle used to be free-range. Gradually, feed-lots crept in, and beef lost all flavor.

I don't know about Paraguay, but beef in Uruguay is even worse than in Argentina. Generally, food in Uruguay is deplorable, and local coffee un-drinkable. But there's a great variety of good herbal teas.

I responded too quick plus at a late hour. The proper name is Yamani, not the misspelling I wrote. Secondly it is not translated as Jasmine rice like I wrote. I do not know the name as anything other than a short brown Japanese rice. Not to be confused with the other brown "integral" rice here. It is the only type I have used for many years on Argentina since it is easy to find.

I just bought rice yamani for the first time ever thanks to this post now I'll try it. How long should I boil it

I've been in Argentina most of the last 13 years. Between eating at a restaurant, fast food place or with friends, I've never had a bad experience.
Same, I guess it all comes down to expectations. As a foodie, I know what to expect. Although definitely Argentina is not a culinary capital besides their iconic items, it’s not the worst.

Think it’s probably a lot better than it was in terms of variety.

When I arrived in 2010 it was basically parrillas or pizza.

Or at least that’s how I remember it!

I am suffering due to the lack of decent food here. Can’t find a decent gourmet burger place. Pizzas are awful. I was spending every year 2 or 3 months here and this was the time when I was really into sports and working out so I was watching what I was eating. This time I am a lot more relaxed with my diet and I can’t find anything decent to eat other than a few sushi places. I tell to my AR relatives that the meat sucks here and they give me the “are you nuts!!” look.

I think Argentine meat still has good taste, I was in Texas recently at high end steak house and whilst the rib eye was very tender it didn’t taste of very much.
