Hello guys, I hope you’re all well and thank you in advance for any help!

I am from the UK, and have been living in Buenos Aires for ~2.5 years. That time has been punctuated by three visits back to the UK, and a number of trips to other countries in South America.

I have overstayed once before, in 2023, and I have currently overstayed my 90-day visa by ~five months. I will return to the UK in June for a few weeks, and I intend to return to Buenos Aires.

I have an apartment here, for which I have a contract, which is up for renewal next week. I have a girlfriend, who is from CABA and with whom I have lived for a little over two years. During that time I have had various contracts with housing agencies, but only my name has been on the contract.

Honestly, perhaps foolishly, I didn't think I had many options with regards to getting residence or an DNI. Instead, I just planned to overstay and/or continually take trips out of the country.

However, I see my long-term future here and of course with my girlfriend. I am getting a little nervous having just stumbled across a Twitter post about someone being denied entry for abusing the overstay, which led me to this forum. The thread is as follows:

I was especially interested in post #25 on page three, which suggests trying to get a ‘Union Civil Convivencial’. I wonder, would I/we qualify for this, given the information that I have given? Moreover, what privileges exactly would this give me?

I work online for a company outside the UK, for which I have a contract, payslips etc., would this be better for me?

Indeed, should/can I apply for either of these now, given that I’m currently overstaying? Would it even be possible?

I wonder if it would be better for me to leave and apply once outside of the country? But I’ll only have six weeks in the UK.

Finally, would either of these be my best option, or am I better doing something else?

Basically what I am looking for is whatever allows me to live here legally, and to come and go as I like. For as long as possible, naturally.

I am completely fluent in Spanish, so if someone can simply point me in the right direction and tell me what would be best for my situation, that would be fantastic.

Thank you all!
