Driving From Bariloche To Mendoza

We're planning on driving from BsAs to Bariloche then up to Mendoza on ruta 40 and then back to BsAs this summer.
Got the first part of the trip planned out but am unsure of the Bariloche to Mendoza section. Has anyone driven it recently who could give any info on the state of the road (have heard it's very bad near Malargue) and any advice on a good place to stop for the night?

I was on this route last year. There are a few gravel sections, but it's really not all that bad. Just take it easy and you'll be fine.
Chos Malal is a decent place to stop as is Malargue.
