Hi all,

I am going to Uruguay with 10 argentines for christmas and would like to make and take something christmasy that will last a few days in tupperware, be it ginger breads, christmas cakes, mince pies etc. However i haven't seen a yorkshire pudding tin here - am i being blind? Also i have never seen icing?

Any help or ideas from fellow baking brits much appreciated :)

I'm not sure what a yorkshire pudding tin is! We usually make individual yorkshire puddings in one of those individual mince-pie/muffin type tins (which you can buy at any kitchen shop or larger supermarket). Icing as in that roll-out stuff to put on christmas cakes you might have to go to a specialist place for. If it's to be found, you'll find it here http://www.donaclara.com.ar/
I think they have a shop along corrientes. They have loads of tins there too...

I would like a nice Melton Mowbray pork pie with Colemans mustard, Any offers ???

Surely they will take all of that food off you at Uruguayan customs ! I wouldn't risk it.

Mixed spice is Pimienta Jamaica en grano, I think. I've never seen a Yorkshire pudding tray or icing here either.

Uruguayan customs consists of 1 or 2 very tired employees down in puerto madero. I wouldn't worry all that much about confiscation

My friends are driving all the way round so it won't be a problem - the problem is finding all the ingredients and the fact i have the worst oven in history, the door won't shut properly so it may end up being a christmas crepe! Thanks everyone for their help!
