Hey all,

Nothing all that interesting, I just wanted to archive my last international entry into the country since people are always looking to gauge how things are processing.
  • Arrived at EZE via international flight
  • Had visa/permit for digital nomad (6 month/renewable)
  • Entire passport process was; handing over passport, my separate visa paper, confirming address, and fingerprints/photo.
I had everything else we've been seeing in the news, like travel insurance from SafteyWing, and more detailed prints of where I was staying, but they didn't care or ask for anything. Just asked if the listed address on the visa was right.

Hope that can at least be helpful for someone, maybe they're being more strict on the questing/insurance checks for folks entering as tourist. Seems like the nomad visa is just a clean easy pass through customs right now.

P.S. hit the duty free store for the first time, staff said there was no limit on purchases for non-residents/citizens. When I got to the luggage x-ray part of customs, I asked the operator if they wanted me to put the (many large) duty free bags on the conveyor belt and they just said no and waived me off besides my personal suitcase. Could've swore there was a technical $300 duty limit or something.

Why did you opt for a DNV? The consensus here seems to be that it’s not worthwhile. My last trip in Argentina was about 15 months while digital nomading and I just paid the overstay fee on departure.

Also, I too used Safetywing but I’ve found them pretty lacking when you actually need to claim. I’ve heard better things about Genki though I’ve not actually used them yet

I'd say the DNV is a waste of time and money for most people.

I'm personally extremely risk adverse and;
  • didn't feel comfortable with visa running to Uruguay (after the last time caught some hard flack with the staff)
  • overstaying (just feel it's to risky and may have side effects later on)
  • worry about getting held up on entry since my travel gear makes it pretty obvious I work remotely
  • enjoy being able to stay a year straight until a permanent option is available
I totally get that it's likely unnecessary. I just prefer working within the rules and am just looking for a stress free option until I process though as residency via marriage. I have a little too much to loose if they do decide to treat rule violations harshly at some point.

Good to know on Stafteywing, just went with them to meet the requirement, will check it out.

I'm slowly but surely going through the steps to do a DNV while in Argentina.

One thing I've never really got clarity on is whether the visa allows you to enter/exit the country freely. (i.e. if you leave the country and go on vacation, is the visa still valid until it's expiration?). Do you have any ideas?

Glad things worked out for you and aren't as doom and gloom as they seemed.

Hey, so I haven't put it to the test but it does clearly say on the visa

"Entradas Multiples: SI"

So I'd have to guess as long as you keep copies of the visa, and proof that you already entered the country using it (since first entry is only valid for 3 months from issue) it'd be good to roam around.

Feel free to lmk if you have any questions on the process, I think I posted a step by step a while back.
Only thing im not sure on is the renewal process; usually want to visit family back in the states by the 6 month mark.

p.s. I don't think you can process the visa while in country, think the website says abroad only. My last one was around 3 week start to finish.

Renewal info would be great.

And yes, a digital nomad visa is available in the country. It's a newer option, but it requires more hoops to jump through.

Basically, it's all the regular documentation (passport, motivation letter, references, contract, pay stubs, CV), and all of it has to be translated by the Colegio de Traductores. Then you've got to get a certificado de domicilio (which requires two witnesses with a valid Argentinian residence to join you and sign a document), and you have to get a criminal background check, which is only valid for 5 days. Once all that is done, you send it in an email.

Anyway, I'm dragging my feet.

Hi - Can you post of link to the step by step for DN visa? I can't seem to find it. Being doing the tourist visa for 2 years now and all the recent changes making me nervous.

Thanks! Did you have to get all your documents translated and apostilled?
For application while not in Argentina, I've never needed anything to be officially translated or apostatized.
It runs through the embassy local to your region and they can work bi-lingual.

Just for convenience though, everything self-made like the resume I sent in with one page English and one page Spanish just for max user friendliness across me, embassy, and headquarters. Nothing official though.

P.S. I don't think you can even get any of the nomad items apostatized.
Apostle is only for government issued items like birth certs. or FBI background checks. Nomad visas just want a resume and proof of job/income really.

*based only on experience while applying from out of country, I do not know the in country process or options*
