Escape To Uruguay

After a very quiet Christmas, want to escape Buenos Aires for a few days. We thought of going to Uruguay and maybe staying in Colonia for a night and Montevideo for 2 nights. Any body any thoughts on places to stay or any other recommendations. Or where is nearest beach to Colonia. Wonder should we go there for New Year?

Sheraton in Colonia is nice. Big swimming pool, golf course. It is a little out of town. Don't know what it costs, I go on points from SPG.

Lucky you have points,,,, jajajaj, I was recommending something more modest, Beside for the Sheraton you need a vehicle also

just spend an excellent night at the radisson right downtown in Colonia. if you want to spend a bit extra (250 usd/night) ask for room 301 or 201. they are small suites with a wonderful wrap around view of the pool and the river. would be an excellent romantic eve or date getaway. one night and a day was more than enough but it was beautiful.
