Experience Of Buying A Medical Insurance At Hospital Aleman

thanks for sharing your experience, I'll be there soon and I'm still wondering which health insurance I should take. I'm 48 years.

That is really low - I'm actually very surprised. Is that including VAT? I'm paying close to 2000 pesos a month for OSDE 310 (I am over 36 however).

I'm curious, how do they cover you overseas? Do they have reciprocity with hospitals in certain cities? And how extensive is their network here in Cap Fed and in Arg in general, did they tell you?

I've been happy with OSDE but am always interested in other options.

I had Hospital Aleman for several years and my first son was born there. The doctors are excellent and care at the hospital too. I found out that sometimes you have long waits for apppointments with some doctors, so I decided to switch to Medicus - a plan that has Hospital Aleman. This way I have the best of both worlds. also, even though HA has a large network of doctors, they do not have other clinics or places for imaging, laboratory, etc with Medicus, OSDE, etc you can have HA and Otamendi, Instituto del Diagnostico, H. Italiano, Trinidad, etc. The difference in prices is not big. This being said, you most likely will never need anything else than what HA has in its own facilities, the trick is to live relatively close.

My age is of no consequence in this discussion. As everyone will be priced as per their own age, and not my age.

However, I was upset why cant they sell me a one year plan at a fixed price? ( yeah yeah..understand the inflation here). But its like ordering food in a restaurant and waiter tells you that he can not guarantee you the same price at end of your meals as per the menu shown before I started eating!

Their is a mighty big difference between a OSDE 210 and A6. A6 is equal to a OSDE 410 in my opinion.

I saw their highest plan A7 and did not find anything great about it as compared to A6. The guy selling himself said, to go for A6 and no need for A7!

Yes, i did a research on all insurance policies for some months before I agreed to buy this one.

I did not buy OSDE ( my first choice) because their customer service ( marketing) is really horrible.

I do not agree with that they target foreigners. The service agent did not try to speak to me in English at all. I asked him some questions in English and he clearly told me he did not understand what I said. So, I reverted back to Spanish. Their whole brochure is in Spanish. If they were targetting foreigners, they would have a English brochure and English speaking agents. They are simply targetting people with money. I know many expats who have lived for years in BA without a insurance cos medical system is cheap here. But somehow, I just had a change of heart and decided to live with medical insurance for rest of my life.

I personally feel at the moment in BA, their is lot of competition between medical insurance companies. And the consumer should ideally be the king in such a scenario..though its not so!

Yes Ceviche if you stay in the restaurant for an entire year slowly eating your meal your main course and your dessert would not be priced as in the original menu!!!

I have Swiss Medical for my whole family. There are four of us, and I think we pay about 2400 right now for all four, includes dental as well. It's really awesome, as if either one of my kids gets sick we just go down to their guardia in Palermo in the Swiss Hospital and get attended to very quickly (generally). My friend also has it and speaks wonders about it. I'm not sure if they have that family plan, but it was one of the cheaper options for us, and I don't regret paying it at all.

I am not sure how they cover me overseas. They have given me a phone number. I need to contact that phone no. if I get sick in any of those 6 countries I mentioned in my report. They will advise which hospital to go to. However, if I am going to Europe or USA, I can buy a medical insurance from them for that particular journey and those no of days at a highly discounted price ( I believe).

I was pretty impressed with their netwrok in the CF. It looked pretty deep! The imaging, blood tests etc must be done in Hospital aleman though, i believe. Since I live very close by to hospital aleman, I dont care for that.

I am paying 890 all inclusive. Though the price is not fixed for a year. It can be increased any time. I will get a factura every month.
