Hello! I'm from Buenos Aires, but raised abroad.
My husband (North American) and I are looking to get pregnant, but first we would like to find a good OB/GYN here in Buenos Aires.
Can anyone help us?
English speaking would be a plus!
Thanks to all!

Hi Cuevas. If you do a search on the forums you'll find several threads that discuss female health care, pregnancy, etc. One thing you may not know is that the OB's operate separately from the GYN's (that I know of). My gyn is Liliana Rossi, and she's fantastic but does not speak English. You will find several recommendations for her in the related threads. Also, it's a good idea to get health insurance before getting pregnant--OSDE requires minimum of one month coverage to cover pregnancy, and 10 months for maternity. Good luck!

I agree with MizzMarr. There is a center for fertility, very well known worldwide, named Halitus. Its director, Dr. Pasqualini speaks English. Check it out http://www.sergiopasqualini.com.ar/category/halitus/

Ask them about health insurance (obra social) coverage.

For something more simple, try Hospital Aleman or Hospital Britanico.

I've been looking online and making a few phone calls to get the insurance prices. So far, Hospital Italiano and Swiss Med have responded.
Can you recommend any coverage with descent hospital rooms.
We've been to a couple (hospitals) to visit family members and we were not very pleased at all. Very un-hygenic, and that's being nice!
Thank you ladies for your help!
I will make a consulta with Dra. Rossi, she seems the one that is most recommended.
I'll also look on the link that you sent!

There are two top-notch hospitals that I know of for birthing here. One is Sanatorio Los Arcos (http://www.sanatoriodelosarcos.com.ar/frontend/clinica.asp) which is fairly new, and the other is Sanatorio Otamendi (http://www.sanatorio-otamendi.com.ar/cms/2/2/nuestra-institucion/ubicacion.htm) which is the more well-known birthing hospital. From what I understand they're very clean and the suites are more like a nice hotel. I have yet to give a personal tour, but hear really good things about them. I know that Swiss Medical and OSDE are both covered at both locations. Good luck!

OSDE is probably your best bet. You have a lot more options for hospitals than Swiss Medical (although it is good as well).

Get covered before you get pregnant for sure. I believe it's a minimum of a month needed before you get maternity coverage.

And would double recommend Halitus. Lots of friends have gone there - they're also very good with infertility but in general, great to have a check-up before you start trying to conceive.

Best of luck to you in this exciting time!:)

Thank you ladies once again!
I've looked into all the info that was sent my way.
I tried to get a check up visit scheduled with Dra.Lilian Rossi and Dra. Adriana Vilariño, however they are both out until the 22nd due to a conference being held out of town.
I will keep searching and if anything I will just wait until they get back.
So far, with the Health Insurance, Hospital Italiano was the cheapest by almost half the price, but you do have to wait 2-3 months to get pregnant, the sales rep. wasn't sure (go figure!)... Followed by Swiss Medical, then OSDE.
I will look into Halitus tomorrow!
Thank you again, you have given me great advice!

1) do you work in registered / blanco way? in this case, having and "Obra social" (like health insurance but give by the "trade /job union" (It's could be simultaneasly with osde/swiss. They give you baby milk powder and "diaper (AmE), nappy (BrE)", the first year

You can try Hospital Britanico. The place has high medical standards, as the doctors there were the best students in medical school. The atmosphere is very nice and they have their own medical plan, which is not expensive. Perhaps you dont have a good commute there. You will find many English speakers there, including the nurses.

Relatives of mine passed away there and I can recall how polite and humanitary they were to handle the situation.

Good luck in your search!

Es una encanta. Speaks perfect english. Best of all her clinic is full service, they have all sorts of specialists. Her research is more menopause/early menopause, presents at conferences in the USA etc. However she's great, up to date on her knowledge and procedures.

As I say there are other specialists in the clinic so if you don't see her you may see someone else there for your specific needs.

She's with OSDE 210
