First trip to Santiago

Hola. Planning a few days trip to Santiago, Chile. Any tips? Precautions? Things to look out for?
 
Are you driving , bus/plane?
General comments:

  1. Stay in Barrio El Golf/Airbnb. Near Plaza Peru
  2. Go directly to Costanera Center or Parque Arauco malls (There you will find everything)
  3. Take US dollar bills.

The parks along the Costanera are nice for a bike ride or walk without turning it into a big hike, same with Cerro Santo Lucia. The big Parque Metropolitano/Cerro San Cristobal is good for an afternoon of hiking. Barrio Italia is a nice place to stroll around, and isn't very busy with people.

The subway system works well, and it's a safe way to get around the city. Worth tracking down a Tarjeta Bip.
