Well, now that I am unquestionably old and with a receding hairline I've decided to buy a "Flat cap" or what is known as a "Newsboy cap". Any ideas out there in male fashion land as to where I might find a decent one? I've looked at Mercado Libre but I've had some sketchy results from them in the past.

Hey, Johnny!

I have a newsie cap that I bought years and years ago on an impulse in the States. I never really wore it, I'm just not a hat person.
I am attaching a couple of pics in this post. If you'd like, send me a DM, I'll gladly gift it to you (just pay it forward to someone else down the road).

Saludos! -Vagrant Violet

Whenever I see the Guachos in the field they have a simple flat cap like you describe, so I think they are common. I often think they look like older Spain style. You can find in a local men’s shop that will let you test before you buy. You got me interested so a quick google search indicates one possible name is Gorra Boina. Also those places will have the more expensive what they call clásica or Inglesa. I found one last winter, but not yet confident to wear it outside.

Before seeing gauchos working with that flat cap style, I only pictured them wearing a brimmed style “cowboy” hat or similar but then learned those are more formal for dance or festival.
