The Brazilian press started reporting yesterday that Argentinian supermarkets are having shortages of bread, flour, cooking oil and other items due to the price controls. I have not noticed anything yet, however. The Jumbo that I go to has a limited selection of goods, but it was like that since I first moved to Argentina almost a year ago, and I have yet to notice any unusual shortages. Have you guys seen anything different?

Here is the Brazilian news piece. (in Portuguese)

Whats considered a shortage in other countries is considered normal here.

K-Regime is using C-Regime script, In Venezuela after price controls, shortages inevitably appeared which gave the rational for nationalizations which - surprise - surprise - made the shortages worse. But at least the people had the satisfaction of knowing that their hunger was not benefiting evil capitalists. ;)

When I first arrived I thought there were shortages in the supermarkets of things like, fish, spices, certain vegetables, lamb, pork, then I realised that they just don't stock them. Yes there are specialist places but in general its hard to find some basic stuff. But then the local tastes are a bit basic.

Carrefour is getting a lot better though and you can find now at least 3 different kinds of fish.
