Free Volunteering???

Hi, my girlfriend and I are currently completing a Spanish course at UBA and was wondering if there was any free Volunteering here in BA. Every web-site I seem to look at you have to pay to volunteer! We don't have a lot of money to throw around, but would love to help out with some volunteering work. Is it possible?

Of course it is! Check churches, animal shelters, etc. At one time, the municipal government kept a list of charities with need of volunteers (and a long list it must have been, too, despite a scarcity of charitable institutions when compared with those to be found in English-speaking lands): volunteering isn't part of the normal way of life in the Cono Sur.
