For those who are interested and/or have never seen PLEIN SOLEIL (A PLENO SOL/PURPLE NOON), Rene Clement's 1960 version of Patricia Highsmith's THE TALENTED MR RIPLEY, I highly recommend this movie. Not only is it a superb adaptation of RIPLEY, especially when one takes into consideration the year it was made, but PLEIN SOLEIL is also the movie that made Alain Delon a bona fide movie star.
For those of you here who collect DVDs/BluRays, the incomparable Criterion Collection released a new restoration of PLEIN SOLEIL in 2012. As with most Criterion digital restorations, this new disc is absolutely stunning, so gorgeous that it's breathtaking, and the restored sountrack is superb.
