A while back I read the Story of a Shipwrecked Sailor. Wonderful book. Highly recommended.
Currently working my way through One Hundred Years of Solitude.
The book he won the Noble Prize for.
RIP Gabo.

I checked the online version of my hometown newspaper, the San Diego Union, (which is a wretchedly parochial excuse for a newspaper), and even there the passing of Gabby was getting attention -
