Getting Fired.

The telegram should arrive any time soon. They re a relatively respectable company, I think(hope) things will get done properly (although they have an incredible talent at f*cking things up...)

Something that I'm curious, I heard someone say that they did it yesterday because it was the last day of the month, so my "pre aviso" counts for July or something. But it looks like I'll only receive the telegram on Monday. Does that mean anything special?

I'll try to keep you posted on the process.

What I'm curious is about the fact that I have 20 days left until the end of my residency. Anyone knows if there s anything that needs to be done immigrationwize?
How long do I have to get a new job so that I can keep going with the missing temporary residency year (to then become permanent)

I think Bajo could be most helpful here. But the important thing is not to let your annual residency expire without being immediately renewed. This sounds like it might be the most difficult challenge you face.

Sorry to hear about that.
1) They probably did it on the last day just to make the accounting easy.
2) You will need to be paid: 30 days notice (in essence your salary for August). Plus your 2 months of severance. Plus the portion of aguinaldo/vacaciones you have earned. It wouldn't be the worst thing to run by an accountant/lawyer* if you know one just to make the numbers square up - I *think* the portion of aguinaldo/vacation they need to pay you should include what you would have earned in August.
3) Nothing needs to be done immigration wise - your residency period ends in 20 days. If you haven't done anything by that point, it would simply expire.
4) Getting a new job would require that the new company also be registered to employee foreigners. Which aren't always the easiest to find.

My advice - see what you can do about registering as a student. That would give you another year of temp residency and then you can file for perm residency. You will have to let migraciones know your reason for residency has changed when you apply for the third year.

* I would recommend if you chose to engage with a lawyer - get one that specializes in labor, not just anyone.

I don't know about labor law. As i mentioned before i have a labor lawyer who deal with this.

This is gonna be good.
I went to obtain my insurances and thought I fell through common argentine bureaucracy but as it turns out... My ex employer would have told Swiss medical to "cut the service" entirely.

You should have your insurance 3 months after leaving the company. So you will need attorney now :)

Why would you think that? If the employer paid for health insurance (and they must pay a part if not the entire thing although many do) - it doesn't continue for months after you leave unless you have negotiated that previously.

To the OP - I'm not sure what you mean by you went to obtain your insurances? You will need to register yourself as a private individual with a new plan. However you very well may not have to have any waiting periods with your new coverage assuming you stay with Swiss Medical since you were previously covered by them.

this is the fun part. my employer didn't pay the health insurance. He cancelled it!

Well, he has to cancel it, otherwise he accumulates a debt. If it is an obra social it is a different story, now if you had private insurance, he has every right to do so as far as I know.

act 10 i think

i dunno, from what i've been told, i'm entitled to 3 months of some kind of covertura medical since it's part of the law. (there's a specific name for the plan)
but I dunno, something fishy is going on. I got sent to Anse. Anse gave me a piece of paper with a stamp saying to go to Swiss medical so that they give me my new papers (what i need to use if i ever end up in hospital)
and swiss medical seems to be saying that no, it's not gonna happen. And then apparently the reason is that my ex-employer canceled the whole thing instead of switching me on the special plan.
Point is, this stuff lasts until 3 months after indemnizacion, so the days are counting and about 1 month down and I still haven't gotten anywhere with this. If I get hit by a car, I have nothing.
