Getting Money Into Argentina (For Non Americans?)

These banks are 'trigger happy'..they love blocking the cards. they really expect that a person will live in his home country for rest of his life and never travel. And if he/she travels..must inform bank every time..

they should come with a better way of doing this.

They have. You notify them before traveling.

Your card being blocked is for security purposes for your benefit and not the bank's. It takes only five minutes to call your bank and tell them all the different dates you'll be traveling and where.

I agree that it makes sense to have security checks for foreign uses of the credit card. However, in the case I described it was kind of hilarious as my friend called them a so often, telling them during which time he is in which countries in South America and that the bank said 'ok we'll unblock it for these dates/countries'. Next usage, next blocking. The only exception was the fraud case from the Philippines, which went through fine :D

Yes, I agree its for my benefit.

But there are people who travel to new countries every week - with many impromptu trips. Its impossible to be on the phone with the bank on a daily basis.

However to give the bank its due - In my case - I have noticed that both my banks ( credit and debit ) has actually noticed a pattern in my lifestyle. I have had very few blockings in last 2 years and its usually when I use the card for high purchases on the same day several times.

When I last checked, it seemed more profitable to sell the bitcoins using a service such as Unisend (https://www.unisend.com) and then have them deposit pesos in a local bank account. This would also avoid the hassle of meeting with a bitcoin broker to receive cash. My question is, has anyone tried this method? Are there any implications with the AFIP?
