Hi everyone,

I am looking to create a study group for the GRE and was hoping to find someone here who would be interested.

I would like to study for at least two hours, five days a week but I am finding it very hard to keep motivated so if you are having the same issue, please write to me at [email protected] and that way we can coordinate a meet up and create a study plan.

My plan is to take the GRE in 4-6 months (mid-May to mid-July).

Hope to hear from someone soon : )

I'm not sure what you can do to "study" for the GRE. When I took it - admittedly, many years ago - my only preparation was a good night's sleep, and I did well enough for grad school at Berkeley.

When I took it I hadn't studied math in many years (I was an Art History major) -- so I really focused on that and then ended up scoring higher in the maths section than the english! I studied 3 weeks.

10hrs a week, 4-6 mos prep is not necessary for the GRE in my opinion unless you are not an english native. Have you done any practice exams? They will help you to narrow down what you really need to focus on. That level of prep is more appropriate for LSAT / GMAT / MCAT but unless they've really revamped the GRE I just don't consider it as in-depth. I think that if you're an english native with decent math skills this far out from the exam you could take a practice test once every 10 days or so, see how you do, and then during the next week spend a couple of hours doing some exercises that focus on questions you felt were your weakest.

By the way you can do Kaplan online -- even they seem to suggest at most about 3 months of study.

But with just two to three months of GRE prep, you can unlock doors you never thought possible. Set some goals and go after them! - See more at: http://gre.kaptest.com/2014/12/01/5-tips-studying-gre/#sthash.adCcCtfu.dpuf

Hello Mabel,

Check out forum.thegradcafe.com. There's a whole forum dedicated to the GRE. Most people recommend Magoosh (online) and the ManhattanPrep books.

I think anyone who, in 2015, puts their email address on a public forum probably needs to study a fair bit more than average.
