Hey all,

I was doing research on the immigration process for spouses headed into the US and finally wrapped my head around the difference between processing *within* a country, and processing outside via consulate/embassy.

So on the Argentina side, does anyone know about the consular process for family reunification heading into Argentina? The embassy websites seem to make the process clear enough, but I can't find anything actually confirming you'd end up with residency/a DNI after entering the country (like how US consular processing works with automatically sending a permanent residence card) or if it is strictly an entrance visa that you'd still need to apply for residence with in Argentina (though the site does say it's a "permanent visa"). https://cnyor.cancilleria.gob.ar/en/node/2258

Any advice would be appreciated, couldn't find too much anywhere on it.
Curious if it could be a more "convenient" option.

Thanks

Hey, searched through your posts, thanks for sharing the process.

I wonder how/if anything has changed with all the new immigration laws/decrees lately.
The main federal site mentioned family reunification being docked down to temporary residence, but the consular process seems to still have it marked as a permanent option.

Seems like there is a split of policies between consulates and departments, maybe it'd make for a better route.

Yes seems like they have changed it and you only get temporary residence now, my guess is consulates haven't updated their pages yet...

All likelihood, yea, they probably just need to update it.

But, just maybe there's a small chance its properly different. Like how consular process going into the US can get a full/unconditional "green card", while moving in and filing within county gets a parole status while pending plus a 2 year "conditional" card after.

No idea, just hopeful the consulates have their own leeway apart from the federal system like the states.
