I'm retired from the military and I can use Tricare Overseas for insurance. You have to pay for the services upfront and then they will reimburse you. That's ok for a doctor's office appointment, but not so ok if I have an emergency and get admitted to a hospital. How much does a private insurance policy cost in Argentina?

Lots of info needed, such as age and any pre-existing conditions. Also, it seems many insurance carriers won't cover you unless you have a DNI.

I am in a similar situation as you; using the often dysfunctional VA Foreign Medical Program. In February 2023, OSDE, to get me out of their office, quoted me at the official rate, a price of $11,900 USD per month for their top of the line plan. I don't remember the specifics of it. And I had an Argentine friend accompany me to avoid any miscommunication. At my age and with my injuries, I am essentially uninsurable.

At a 100% rating I still have the VA back home plus Medicare A+B plus Supplemental Plan G that I pay every month in case I need to return. Which may be the case if the requirement for medical insurance is not waived. Here I pay cash / credit card for all of my medical needs. Hopefully Milei is just running his mouth without thinking through the ramifications. And adjustments will be made. Good luck. S/F
