I would bring what you can in cash. I have not had any experience here with travelers cheques, but where I have used them I have found them inconvenient and expensive.
Really your best bet is to check with your bank and bring a debit card, then buy what you can with a credit card. You can pay for meals in the big places with credit card and most hotels.
If you look for an appartment you can easily pay with what you bring in. After that I think you should easily manage with the daily limit.

I've been to these and been very pleased with the price/quality ratio. Everyone else must be as well; they are always packed by 9:00.
