Can anyone advise me on changing money?
I have Argy peso's
need pounds sterling
Question is would i be better changing my cash pesos to dollars here in Argentina then arriving in London UK changing to pounds.
All is cash not on card

Changing your money twice would be madness (pesos-Dollars Dollars-sterling). There is always a buy and sell spread, and more often than not commision.
If you can wait and do some research the variation is quite large. personally I have found HSBC is about the best in the UK. The post office and any Bureau de Change will charge a hefty commision.
So my advice would be: change whatever you will need when you land in the UK now (Change houses here have Pounds as well as Euros and Dollars) and when you get home visit your local bank.
As an alternative you could always wait for some Brit who wants pesos, I know that is often not practical, but it does cut out the middle man.

I am worried if I leave Argentina with pesos cant change in uk there isnt a rate on any of change houses at heathrow airport

....which is why TangoBob is recommending you look at buying GBP with your ARS while you are still in Buenos Aires - your pesos will be easier to sell and you will probably get a better rate. Hey - you're the guy with Senior Broker in financial services on your CV: you should be advising us about this sort of stuff, shouldn't you?

If you have left it too late, there's an exchange house on the departures level at Ezeiza that will sell you GBP for ARS but they will give you a lousy rate - all airport exchanges do. And if you try to change it at Heathrow..

I would probably recommend changing your pesos to dollars here in Argentina, then changing the dollars to pounds when you get back to the UK. I know it sounds crazy to change money twice, but there is very little demand for pounds here and in my experience you get a terrible rate and a massive spread, vica versa with pesos in England. Changing pesos into dollars in Argentina on the other hand you generally get a very to the mark rate and tiny spread, and i'd imagine on changing those dollars to pounds back in uk it will end up giving you more for your money.
I could be wrong though.... please let me know if you find somewhere that will change pesos to pounds here at a good rate.

It looks like the best rate you can get going directly into pounds is 5.00 to 1, and if you take the best dollar rate which is (3.615) and multiply it by the dollar to pound rate on Bloomberg today (1.415) you get 5.115. so you are losing about 2% by going directly into pounds. Not knowing what the money changers charge in London i would guess that it would be easiest to just go directly into Pounds here unless you have a significant amount to change.

Below is the address for the exchange house that is offering 5.00 to 1

Cambio Internacional S.A.
San Martín 367
Ciudad de Buenos Aires

Suerte,

Greg

Under no circumstances should you leave this country with PESOS.

You will take it in the shorts wherever you go.

HSBC - UK are quoting £.21174 to the peso today.
Rather than take advice from people you do not know (me included) check the internet for rates. I would only add one thing HSBC have bought pesos from me here in the UK.
