TLDR: I need referrals/recommendations in Buenos Aires for the following for early December:

Dog Rescue/sanctuary that can come pick up 4 dogs
Company to pick up furniture and household items, including clothing, books, etc
Reputable art appraiser/dealer to appraise several paintings and pieces of art
Possibly movers to ship a small amount of art to US

It is time to move my elderly mother with dementia (US Citzen) out of Argentina as she has rapidly declined in the last two months. I am managing all of this alone and I am completely overwhelmed. She has been living there since 1995 and is a legal permanent resident. She rents a house that I have to now figure out how to clean out. Plan is to come around December 6 so in just over a month.

She has four dogs who are all unable to make the trip to the US so I am trying to find a dog rescue/sanctuary organization to place the dogs. I also need to find a company that can come to the house for a clean out. I am assuming Buenos Aires does not have something similar to 1-800-GOT-JUNK 😂 And none of it is actually junk. She has beautiful furniture and things, but none of it will be coming back to the US. If I were doing this in the US I would just hire a company to coordinate and hold an estate sale- do they do this in Argentina?

Help! This process has me beyond overwhelmed 😭, never mind the sadness I am dealing with watching my mother decline

If you are dealing with this yourself, it may be a good idea to separate valuable items that you want to keep. Then box or bag the rest and call Salvation Army. They will come and pick up everything. I have used them a bunch of times, very reliable.

So sorry to hear of your crisis. I can only imagine how overwhelming it must be. I can't help with much of what you need, but I have a friend with a rescue dog, and I'm waiting to hear where the sanctuary is where she adopted it. I promise to get back to you as soon as I find out. Sending hugs.

Hello, This sounds like a very stressful situation for all and I offer my sympathy.

I can give you the names of two organizations for the dogs that may be willing to help re-house the dogs or at least point you in the right direction.

The first- Soplo de vida https://www.soplodevida.org/. I have been a foster parent to dogs from this organization and adopted my own dog from there. I am not sure how it works when surrendering but they may be able to at least help.

The second Proyecto 4 Patas. They are not in the capital but are in the province and they may also be able to help https://proyecto4patas.org/

Thank you so much- it is really a lot, especially being so far away.

Thank you. The dog issue is painful because these dogs are all she has had for the past several years and she refused to leave the country without them. Now she is at the point where she will be distressed about them but likely the dementia will make it so she is not entirely aware. If I could take them I would :(
